All Saints School Get Set For First Nuneaton Fun Run18-05-2011 Posted by: Ian Brown

Girls from All Saints Junior School in Nuneaton have been getting in training to put their best foot forward at the first Nuneaton 5km Fun Run this Sunday 22nd May, hoping to raise as much money as possible for the Mary Ann Evans Hospice.

The girls aged between 7 and 11 years old have their sunflowers - the symbol of the Hospice – and their trainers at the ready, as they practice their running techniques at the Triton Showers Community Arena, all in preparation for the big event on Sunday.

The Fun Run has been organised by the newly formed Nuneaton Town Community Foundation and is sponsored by local company Triton Showers to support the Hospice as it celebrates its 20th Anniversary helping people from the area.

Steve Farmer, from the Nuneaton Town Community Foundation is behind the organisation of the run said:

“This Fun Run is planned to be just that – fun! It really is open to everyone young and old and, as the girls from All Saints School have found, it can be great fun getting ready to join in as well.

“We really hope that everyone from families through to the more committed runners will join us on Sunday to take part, enjoy themselves and go some way to generating valuable funding for such a worthy cause as the Mary Ann Evans Hospice. Even for those who would rather not make it a ‘jog’, the course will only take around an hour to finish - so it could even make a great ‘wake up’ walk for yourself or even to take your dog along.

“Those with little ones are not stopped from joining in on the day too as there is a scenic ‘Toddler Trot’ which will be working its way around the park too and Oakey Bear from Oak FM will even be encouraging to cheer them on.”

Registration for the 5km Fun Run starts at 9am at the new ‘Louis’ play area in Riversley Park, Nuneaton on Sunday 22nd May and the run kicks off at 10am. For those with little ones, a ‘Toddler Trot’ around Riversley Park starts at 9.30am. Anyone can take part but children under 11 years of age need to be accompanied by an adult over 18 years of age. Entry costs just £1 for children and £4 for adults if you register in advance. You can also join in on the day at the cost of £2 per child and £5 per adult.

The 5km Fun Run will start from Riversley Park, work its way around the town centre before ending up back at the Park.
