Nuneaton Town FC Sponsorship

Triton support the local community

This year Triton celebrates its 35th birthday and, as one of the longest standing employers in the Nuneaton area, what better way to mark the occasion than to help launch a community sponsorship

Nuneaton Town Football Club and Triton Showers have kicked off the pre-season by unveiling the stadium’s new signage - officially naming it the ‘Triton Showers Community Arena‘ and reaffirming the new community partnership between these renowned local names.

Fans of the club will now see the new sponsor’s name proudly displayed at the entrances and exits, as well as seeing branding appear across all stands through the stadium.

The unveiling reinforces relationship between Boro and Triton, announced in June, which saw the creation of the Nuneaton Town Community Foundation – a not-for-profit charity set up by Nuneaton Town Football Club with support from Triton. The Foundation will use the stadium as a base for its activities, which aim to help disadvantaged children and young people in the area by engaging them in a wide range of healthy, positive initiatives.

Activities already underway include a colourful football-themed ‘graffiti wall’ at the south end of the stadium. Featuring all of the club’s main sponsors’ names alongside fun, healthy, sporting images, this wall will form the backdrop to the space already earmarked for children’s allotments and a new training ground, amongst other schemes.

Triton is really pleased to be involved in this project which will give back to the local community driving initiatives to support children locally as well providing healthy living programmes.

The Nuneaton Town Community Foundation and Triton Showers are preparing for a successful spring harvest after volunteers braved the cold weather to sew the seeds of seasonal fruit and vegetables on the community allotments, which opened in September.

Now the preparation for winter is complete, the Foundation and Triton have one last hurdle to overcome. “We have battled with the cold snap over the last few weeks to ensure the allotment provides us with a healthy crop in the spring,” says Steve Farmer, General Manager of the Nuneaton Town Community Foundation. “What we really need now is a container to protect our tools from the bad winter weather and we would be keen to hear from someone in the local area who may be able to donate something suitable.”

Forming part of the Foundation’s Vitality Programme, the allotments were cultivated from an area of disused land on the south side of the Triton Showers Community Arena. They are used to teach local children how to grow, prepare and cook fresh fruit and vegetables.

Development of the allotment space has continued throughout autumn. Volunteers from the local area have erected infill polyurethane tunnels which are used for insulating the ground and protecting crops during the colder weather. With specific areas dedicated to hardy vegetables like spinach and broad beans, the team are working together to protect the new shoots from the winter chills so that they can be harvested in the better weather next year.

The Nuneaton Town Community Foundation has also celebrated the launch of its new state of the art, interactive children’s gym as part of its latest healthy living initiative aimed at children in the local borough.

To mark the launch, children from All Saints Primary School visited the Triton Showers Community Arena for the morning and tried out the new equipment. The gym houses an interactive sports wall and a full set of digital dance mats, which had the children stepping in time to some of their favourite pop songs.

Following a generous donation from Triton Showers earlier in the year, the Foundation was able to secure a pound-for-pound grant through the Sports Match initiative. This additional funding paid for the interactive gym and has allowed the Foundation to continue its support and education of children in the local area. The new children’s gym will play a key part of the charity’s healthy living schemes going forward.
